Ron Noseworthy has been unable to post, recently, so he asked me to post
this for him:

Hi, everyone!

I've been updating some names in the Veneridae. I've come across
references to both Ruditapes philippinarum and Venerupis philippinarum. I
had thought that Venerupis was mainly an eastern Atlantic genus and
Ruditapes was mainly a western Pacific one, although some species have
been widely introduced. Are they the same? Also, can anyone enlighten me
on the origin and use of Venerupis and Ruditapes?

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Malacologically yours,

Ron Noseworthy
