Cypraea moneta are found in Hawaii though fairly rare.  I haven't heard
of a C. annulus being found in Hawaii including fossils.  Would anyone
have a reason for C. annulus not making it here while C. moneta did?
 
C. obvelata is listed in Rice Price List, and other places, often as a
subspecies.  It is essentially a C. annulus with extensive lateral
callus.  As both types are found in the same place at the same time, it
shouldn't qualify as a subspecies.  It is a form or variation at least.
 Is there any base for it being a full species:  the mantle seems to be
the same?
