Dear Conch-lers,

I had a question about authors that I hoped some of you could answer. In
searching through checklists of Pacific mollusks, I repeatedly run into the
author name "Gould." such as Pucturella galeata (Gould, 1846). I also run
into the author name "A.A. Gould," such as Patinopecten caurinus (A.A.
Gould, 1850)

Are these Goulds one and the same? If so, why the different formalities?
Thank you- Aaron
