According to an obituary in today's Philadelphia Inquirer, renowned
photographer Andreas Feininger died on Thursday February 18th in New York at
age 92. Born in Paris and raised in Germany, he moved to the United States
in 1939. He was on the staff of Life magazine from 1943 to 1962, and was the
author or photographer for more than 30 books, including Shells (1972), with
text by William K. Emerson.
