I have a number of large Gaza superba in excellent condition that I bought
for crafts in a shell store in the Florida Panhandle a few years ago.  In
fact I made myself a pair of earrings out of two that are 25mm each by
simply gluing a back on.  I get compliments every time I were them.  To help
strengthen them, I stuffed them with cotton balls and saturated that with
airplane glue.  They have held up very well, no matter how I treat them.
 
I also found an empty small Gaza superba on the beach near where you live,
James.
