Hi, James.  Following is a description of arene cruentata, from
M. Humfrey, Sea Shells of the Caribbean: " Diameter 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Colour white, with small, fairly regular red or brown patches on
the upper surface of the whorls. There are 4 to 6 whorls, bearing 2  rows
of triangular spines on the periphery, the bottom row is usually mucyh
smaller. Sculpture of many axial threads"....
 
It is a pretty species.  I found several fitting this description in
the Bahamas, with the distinctive red dots. Want one ? Send me your
