One of the rules of the list is that you do not send attachments -
Graphic attachments are large enough the server catches and rejects them,
but viruses can be small and slip through the servers ruleset and be sent
along to everyone. However if you remember useful attachments NEVER come
with conch-l email you can delete the viral bits before they cause a
problem :-)
As a general suggestion: Everyone should purchase a virus protection
program - install it and use it (if its not installed or if you don't run
it it will not do you one bit of good) - don't expect the program to be
100% effective - new viruses are being developed every day so keep up with
your programs updates (the company web sites have a lot of helpful
information). In addition, either choose an email program that will not
run attachments or change the setting on your email program so that it will
not automatically open or run anything (be careful using MS Outlook) -
running a virus automatically just isn't the kind of help anyone needs.
