Dear Conch-Lers,  Maybe you forgot or didn't know.  If a license plate
of Florida needed a shell on it, then it should be the horse conch,
Pleuroploca gigantea.  This is officially the State Shell.  Corrine
Edwards contacted me back in the 1960s about making a postcard of a live
horse conch, which I did, and she took half of them.  Claude Kirk the
governor of the state signed the bill with orange ink.  I think Corrine
etc. sent each of the Congressmen a horse conch.
