Spire height on a cone can vary greatly and shouldn't be used as a primary
feature for identification. Sounds like you simp;y have a high-spired
regularis.

Subject: cone ID
Can any of the cone enthusiasts tell me about a specimen I picked up in
Bahia Concepcion in the Gulf of California?
I found it in the same place as two larger C. regularis. It's got much the
same pattern of brown squarish dots lined up in spirals. But this one has a
higher spire, the ground color is pink and the base is orange. It measures
2.8cm high and 1.3cm in diameter.
Lump it? Split it?
