Continuation 1:
Cap Malheureux (North part of the Island): in the intertidal zone you will
fine lots of live cowries (common ones like C. caputserpentis and C. erosa)
in very big numbers; for the family Neritidae you will probably find 5
deferent species (have a sharp eye because some that look very a like are
some times different species), including one I only had the opportunity to
find in this part of the Island - Puperita bensoni (lovely small shell);
Strombidae, Cerithidae (lots of different species: Cypeomorus concisus,
Cypeomorus batillariaeformis … … …), Naticidae (Natica gualteriana is the
one in larger numbers), Muricidae (like Azumamorula mutica, Cronia
margariticola) and many more.
When snorkelling or diving in the shallow reef, the show changes, and you
will probably find lots of common to uncommon and even rare shells if you
have a sharp eye. Big Trochidae like Turbo argyrostomus are a common sight,
but very well camouflaged.
