Caro amigo,
Tenho solamente duas especes sobre que eu pouco dar comentario:
(from my manuscript on marine shells of northeast Florida):
>Natica canrena Linnaeus, 1767
"Naticarius canrena (Linnaeus, 1758) Colorful Moonsnail [4] 50 mm.
Scallop tailings, St. Augustine. BH! 3/89. (BH).
Dredged, 70 ft., 14 mi. E.N.E. Mayport. CL,HL,“Reef Raider II!” 6/11/89. (HL).
Dived, 80 ft., 21 mi. E.S.E. Mayport. CL! 1975. (CL).
According to Emerson, W. K. and M. K. Jacobson (1976. The American Museum
of Natural History guide to shells. Alfred A. Knopf, NY, pp. 1-482. xvii,
pls. 1-47), “canrena” is derived from the Malay word “karang,” meaning
“shellfish.” It is therefore to be treated as a noun in apposition and not
declined. Also Lee (Gundersen R. W., 1998. The seashells of Sanibel and
Captiva Islands. published privately, Racine, Wisconsin, pp. 1-32.) and Levy
Cos. (HL)."
[Note generic placement, date of description, and grammatical perspective.]
Abbott, R. T. (1974. American Seashells (Second Edition). Van Nostrand
Rheinhold Co., New York. pp. 1-663, numerous text figs., 24 pls.; p. 158)
records Natica canrena Linnaeus, 1758 from "North Carolina to the West
Indies.. Bermuda. Brazil."
>By the way, is it Lasaea adansoni (Gmelin, 1791) or Lasaea rubra (Montagu,
>1803)?"
Abbott (1974; p. 468) synonymizes the two taxa and records L. adansoni from
"Southeast Florida; Bermuda; Brazil; Europe. Monterey, California, to La
Paz, Mexico."
