I agree that the designing computer databases for managing our collections
is an appropriate topic for conch-l. It is as valid a management tool as
is how to clean shells, deodorize shells, dredge shells, etc. One group
of techniques is designed to help us build our collections, the other with
managing it.
At this years American Malacological Society meeting in Pittsburgh a
talk on database construction will be presented by Gary Rosenberg (at a
workshop I will be organizing). I would think that if it is good enough a
topic for a national meeting, it is good enough for us here.
Just my two cents.
