Hello! I am a graduate student working on the marine snails Trichotropis
sp. (the hairy shells) and I am looking for help on acquiring specimens
(unfortunately, a graduate stipend precludes me from travelling all over
the world to collect them myself!). I am interested in all species in the
family Trichotropidae. The ones I know about and their distributions are
listed below (if you know of others locally, I would love to receive
them/hear about them). The species are mostly boreal in distribution,
found in Alaska (especially northern Alaska), Japan, and northern
Europe. A few (I listed at the end) are from California, Florida, and
Arabia. Also, if you know of specific people that I should contact
(especially if they are not on this listserve), please let me know their
contact information.
If you do have any information/specimens for me, please contact me
individually at: [log in to unmask] so we can talk about it. I not only
want specimens in ethanol, but information about their habitat, etc. I
can give you more information about snail sizes, habitats, and send
pictures if needed at that point. Thank you very much for your help! I
greatly appreciate it!
