Two other species (Anodonta oregonensis I. Lea, 1838:70, pl. 21, fig. 67
and Anodonta wahlamatensis I. Lea, 1838:78, pl 20, fig. 64) both
supposedly currently recognized as Anodonta oregonensis were described in
the same paper from the same location, very near where Portland now stands,
namely :
"Wahlamat, near its junction with the Columbia River". There are no double
consonants. I assume that this was an earlier spelling of Willamette.
Anyone out there no the story behind this name change?
Also, I could use the learned opinions of anyone on the identification of
the following western Anodonta's:
