Well, I got to tell this sometime. So how about now!
I grew up In Palm Springs Californis at a time when it had only one
paved street, one nine hole golf course, and and two days a week
irrigation of your front yard Palm Trees. I used to go out into the
desert with this Indian (name long forgotten). He wore a Derby hat. What
he did was find a rattlesnake, wave the derby in front of it, let it
strike, grab it and milk it into a bottle for the U. of Calif. He let me
come along because I had good eyes and was close to the ground and could
find a few snakes. I don't think my mother quite understood.
To give you an idea of when this was, Tom Mix with a broken leg and
Shirley Temple both stayed at the Desert Inn.
