Hi Emilio, and other long-suffering Conchlers,
I find it hard to believe that the Field Museum will ever recoup its
investment in Tyrannosaurus Sue even with some help from business, though
the money certainly bought a lot of publicity. One of the trends in museums
these days is to revamp the exhibits, charge extra fees for viewing each
expensively renovated gallery, post it all on the Web so people can see part
of it without paying for it, wince when they realize they spent way too
much, and lay off curators (and sometimes exhibitors) while retaining
accountants. I ask you, does this make sense?
