FYI.... In plate 141 of "Heraldic Crests..." by James Fairbairn (a
collection of 19th century engravings) there are 10 crest elements that
involve scallop shells, several crustaceans and a land snail. I'm sure
there are more in the book (over 4400 designs) but these are the ones I
came upon first. This book does not illustrate complete family or clan
crests but the different elements used in them.
