Dear Dan, Paul, Kev,
You've nailed this taxon down.
Paul treats the genus Penion Fischer, 1884 as a masculine noun, Kev as a
feminine, but the Greek word penion (meaning little shuttle, as in
weaving) is neuter. Thus I believe the species in question to be most
properly written as Penion maximum (Tryon, 1881).
For what it's worth, the literature tends to favor the -us ending.
