Another question from the Talmadge Collection (College of the
Redwoods-Eureka, California).
Yesterday we were given an old collection of shells to be added to
the college's collection. In it were some shells labeled "Apolymetis
cognata, No author nor date, Orange County, California. I've looked
through Dr. James McLean's "Marine Shells of Southern California (Both
editions) and still find no species by that name. Apolymetis was changed
to Florimetis and the only similar species is Florimetis obesa, (Deshayes,
1855). Are these two synonymous?
