Yes, the horse conch is common around the Yucatan peninsula, and huge there.
It lives in the same areas as Turbinella angulata, the West Indian Chank. I
had always thought they couldn't cohabit since they would be competing, but
I was wrong... They call it the "red conch" and the chank is the "black
conch" - named for the color of the animal.
