Here is my (incomplete) knowledge about the subject:
As far back as 1989 in Vaught, Melapium, along with Pseudoliva and Zemira
was placed in the subfamily Pseudolivinae (postition uncertain). I have a
penciled notation that this was elevated to family status (Pseudolividae,
not Melampidae --which is entirely different) by Vermeij - but I did not
recored the date.
