I would bet you are correct as the ants would either drive away the snail as
an invader or kill and eat it. Maybe the smaller species of ants like sugar
ants would ignore it - I'm not sure. I did see some snails (H. aspersa) at
a rest stop (on I-40 or whichever one goes through Nashville). They were on
the brick wall of the building.
