Michael,
Below are URL's linking to articles dealing with Chiton preservation:

As you will read, once curled, the best you can hope for is disarticulating
the plates and piecing them back together. The key to preserving Chitons
flat is starting the preserving process at the time of collection in the
field.

Subject: how to dissect chitons?
Hello
I have 4 chitons which i had found alive some years ago. As i looked now to
them,
i found them convolved.
Whats the best way to prepare chitons? Something to put them in water until
they are flexible again and then fix them plain. What must i do and what
must
i avoid?
Michael
