Just saw a news report that there's an emergency mass evacuation underway in northwestern Puerto Rico because of the expectation that the Guajataca Dam will burst. The affected area includes Isabela, where I went shelling in March of last year. ( I think Peggy Williams was calling the beach area Los Jobos, which is actually a little to the west of Isabela.)

The evacuation effort is hampered by the 100% power outage on the island and 95% phone outage, not to mention the lack of drinking water.

On the heels of the immense disasters in Texas and Florida, the aftermath of Hurricane Maria's assault on Puerto Rico may well result in more casualties and more sustained damage than in the stateside areas.
