Mr. Rosenberg's postulate that epi-dwellers might sometimes be
selectively attracted to certain pigmentation types is quite
interesting, but i have not observed it in northern waters.
Placopecten, which someone in Newfoundland did an epi-beastie Master's
thesis on, has as many as 27 spp living on its back. I've seen
litterally millions of them, but hav e never observed selective
attatchment of organisms on the basis of pigmentation, although a
statistical analysis might turn up tendancies not easily spotted by
someone not looking for them. Has anyone found evidence supporting
the theory in warmer climes?
