Some time back there was a discussion about storing shells in acid-free
environments. On Monday, 7/5/99, Martha Stewart had "Chris Paulocik,
conservator at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
in New York City, ... to explain how to properly store your own linen
treasures." If you go to marthastewart.com for July 5 you can read
about acid-free boxes, two kinds of plastic -good and bad, locate a pH
testing pen, and even Identification tags. As Martha would say, "It's a
good thing." I hope this is useful to someone.
