Hello Conch-L,
In Wilson's Australian Marine Shells, and in Wye's Encyclopedia of shells, is
pictured an elongate, tall-spired, short-canaled, spirally corded brown shell
which they claim is Latirus paetelianus (Kobelt).
In Abbott & Dance's Compendium of Seashells, and in Springsteen & Leobrera's
Shells of the Philippines is a smaller, short-spired, long-canaled,
longitudinally ribbed, brown and white shell which they say is L. paetelianus.
I have specimens of both these shells. Does anyone know which of these is
the true L. paetelianus? And what is the correct name of the other shell?
Regards,
Paul Monfils
