As an update, three additional specimens of Kurtziella cerina have been found in the same exact spot from mid-September thorugh today 10/22 ; on average this species has been found about 1 out of every 3 visits, though the sample size is quite small. The most recent find (2 specimens on 20 Oct) was within a couple of days after some strong NW winds (the beach faces north).
On 20 Oct I also found a fresh dead Gyroscala rupicola which is the first recent record from Western LI Sound I know of since the LI shell club publication; prior records from Bayville NY ( a mile or two to the east) are cited therein
One paired, and several single valve Nucula proxima were found earlier in October.
