Dear Irene;-
    That's one of those false sayings with no basis in fact. Actually
Rome was built in a day. It was October  16th, 741 BC. Josebius and
Medicus were just out for a stroll from their home in Atlanticus when
they met Relicus the Short on his way to market. One of them (I
forget who) suggested that if they built a nice little market town
where they were standing, they wouldn't have to go so far for
stringbeans and melons. So each of them went an gathered a work force
of buddies and they put up this real peachy wall  with stalls inside
by nightfall. That evening, they recruited the ladies and told them
to be sure to end every sale with, "Thank you for shopping at Rome-
mart."
    The name Rome was chosen because that's what the three guys were
doing when they decided to build.
