The following from the Malacologist at Bishop Museum will explain that
Achatinella are not being entirely removed from the Endangered Species
list, only those that have now been declared officially extinct.
 
One hopes that this is not the path that other species on the Endangered
Species List follow.

This is causing immense confusion!! A number of Achatinella species (3 I
think) are being de-listed, because they are now considered
EXTINCT!!!!!!!
NOT because they have recovered!!!!!!!!!!!!!
