The nature conservancy is a rather great environmental concerns group. I
have supported them for several years , not as radical as greenpeace,
(I always have nightmares of seeing a greenpeace attack vessel ramming our
boat on the way to the flats) The nature conservancy is more concerned with
doing good things like buying up tracks of mudflats destined for condo
development. They also buy huge tracks of rainforests in Costa Rica, Brazil,
Columbia and Jamaica, savanna in Africa , virgin redwood forests in
Washington, wetlands and salt marshes on Nantucket, beaches in Florida and
the list goes on and on. They show that their form of environmental
conscience works , throwing blood on fur coats (being a ferret owner I
prefer non fur items but to each their own) ramming Japanese trawlers ,
sinking Norwegian fishing boats and other even worst acts just look good in
the evening news but have little if any effect of helping to preserve
nature.mark
