Unfortunately the Florida Geological Survey web site list Scott & Allmon
1992 as out of print.

Hello Joop, I have a book titled "The Plio-Pleistocene Stratigraphy and
Paleontology of Southern Florida" by Thomas M. Scott and Warren D. Allmon
published in 1992 by the Florida Geological Survey {special Publication #36}
in my library. It may still be available and in print through this Florida
governmental office.

It has lots of descriptions of sites and quite good photos of many mollusk
species. Of interest to you is a photo of Strombus mayacensis Tucker &
Wilson, 1933 [see figure 16, page 143]. There is also mention fossils of S.
alatus Gmelin in a different part of the paper [see page 187].

Let me know if you already have this reference. Since I live almost 3000
miles away from Florida I don't know what else is available. I hope this is
useful. Bert Bartleson Olympia, WA, USA

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your reply. I would be interested in a copy. In my case I'm doing
some study on Strombidae from the Florida area, both recent and fossil. Most
of them have been published in the 1990's, so the 1953 book will probably be
of limited help.
Kind regards,
Joop
