Dear Alan,

For the five minutes I was on the beach at Poneloya (near Leon) in the 1980s, I found the volcanic sands absolutely scoured. (That doesn't mean there isn't anything nearby or subtidal).

A quick walk in the woods near Matagalpa revealed some interesting terrestrials.
