A popular, on-line reference is stating the Cypraea aurantium is an Indo-Pacific
species. I cannot recall ever hearing that a living specimen has been taken in
the Indian Ocean.

Are there any reliable, on-line records of Golden cowries being live-collected
from the Indian Ocean? If not--and no solid reference corroborates this
apparently false claim--the Wikipedia entry on Cypraea aurantium is in need of
correction.

Aloha,

Bob Dayle
