Hi Carlos and Gary,
According to Tursch & Greifeneder, OLIVE SHELLS, page 433, O. "annulata
(Gmelin, 1791) cannot be identified, and is a nomen dubium (...) used for
three distinct species: O. amethystina (Roding, 1798), O. maculata Duclos,
1840, and O. mantichora, Duclos 1840." At page 302, under O. maculata:
"Spire: conical to high conical, sometimes slightly telescopic". Carlos'
maculata is o.k. (Table 4). Copy on request.
