I think it occurs right around the North, South and Stewart Island
only. It isn't listed in Hamish Spencer's online checklist as
occurring further afield.

However scaphopods generally don't have many diagnostic shell
characters and it's possible that this species occurs elsewhere (eg
Australia) under other names (synonyms).

Dick Dell described a NZ polychaet tube as a dentaliid... and Powell
(1974) blindly followed this determination.
