 Michigan's Upper Peninsula does have a "humongous fungus", Armillaria
bulbosa, in Crystal Falls Michigan estimated to cover 37 acres but this
is a just a bit shy of the 2,200 acres claimed to be covered in
Oregon's Strawberry Mountains by a Armillaria ostoyae.  If this is in
fact just one organism it would rival "Pando" the giant aspen grove in
Utah as the organism with the largest living biomass
