Keep,%201881,%20LS%20photo.jpg

Dear Harry and others, The photo Harry just posted is very different from
the species that we find in the low intertidal zone out on the Strait of
Juan de Fuca and outer Coasts of Washington and British Columbia that we
currently identify as Opalia borealis Keep, 1881. See the attached photo
from the PNWSC website. We do not find this shell intertidally within Puget
Sound although it may appear subtidally. I would guess the shell Harry has
posted is a different species entirely. The discussion has been
fascinating. Thanks, Bert Bartleson, President PNWSC, Olympia, WA
