As a start I would recommend the following chapters in 'The Mollusks:A
Guide to Their Study, Collection, and Preservation 2006'

Chapter 22: Terrestrial Gastropods by Pearce and Orstan
Chapter 25: Unionoida by Cummings and Bogan
Chapter 2: Field and Laboratory Methods in Malacology by Sturm, Mayhew,
and Bales

and references therein.
