* I've always assumed that "Recent" was an English common name for
"Holocene," as "Ice Age" is for Pleistocene, and "Age of Mammals" for
Cenozoic.

There's also the most-recent Anthropocene -

present era  "Bulldozeroic," beginning right after World War II seems to
have been forgotten by everybody but me.
