Thank you all who have so far responded to my question. I do not have access to hard copies of any of the sources you suggest, but will try the website of the American Malacology website.

There are actually several short articles about Mr. Roworth -- the following is taken from "2400 Years of Malacology," on the website of the American Malacological Society:

Does anyone have information about this man?
The only thing I've found is a photo of him in the October 27, 2012 issue of 'OF SEA AND SHORE'. He was #16 of Shellers from the Past.

Possibly he was a member of a club or other organization somewhere on the Pacific Coast?

I just learned that his collection was given to Arizona State University 20 - 30 years ago, and it reportedly has both land and marine shells. Since ASU has no course of study of marine life or Mollusca, the collection was given to the Paleontology and Archeology Department. They put it into storage and forgot about it. The person who made us aware of the collection will not return to the country until summer, so if there is any other information about Mr. Roworth included with the shells, we will have to wait and learn later.
