I forgot to tell you, it takes about 2 gallons of Cocinas to make a good
soup, and on top of that I sold the shells for $2.50 per gallon to a shell
store in Bradenton, I had good soup and the shells paid for the gas to get
the shells and shell meat. I always ate sea urchins raw, and one day I
made a lady sick when she saw me eating them on the spot of where I was
collecting. I always took a screwdriver and spoon along on my collecting
trips in the bay, so with the screwdriver I could open oysters easy to eat
and the spoon was for eating the sea urchins, which to me tasted like
shrimp flavored jello. Someone lately said he did not know Conch was good
to eat, untill you try it you won't know, after that you will not want to
be without it for long. Ask the Cordys' they know how good it is. and if
you want to really have a good time, swim into a school of jelly fish and
have them beat on you and you do not know which way to go to get away from
them, my back and legs looked like someone had beaten me with a switch and
it took months to heal. Marlo, I forgot I had taken you to some of my
favorite spots, you also forgot to tell how we stayed up all night so we
would not miss the low tide, and you were pretty tired when we got back
home, you had forgotten I do not sleep much and you were not used to
staying up late. Glad you remembered some of what I tried to teach people
that I took shelling. Now I cannot even get Marlo to trade with me, he
don't do that any more. I could go on and on, but you will all get tired
of me, so enough for now. John Bernard
