Any experts on Panamic Calyptraeidae out there?
I am struggling with two shells from Venado Beach, Panama. They are
possibly juvenile (20mm) Crucibulum scutellatum (Keen N. 825), except the
cups looks like Crucibulum monticulus (Keen N. 823). The exteriors of these
two look exactly like other C. scutellatum, not at all like other C.
monticulus that I have, and the cups do not look at all like those of other
C. scutellatum.
Is is possible that the cup in juveniles differs from that of adults? Is
this a different species?
Thanks in advance for any info.
