Study Abroad Advising Internship
For those who will be graduating in May and are interested in a career
in international education, this is a perfect opportunity to gain
valuable experience before looking for a permanent position or going to
graduate school. The internship is at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg,
Virginia and will last from August 2, 1999-May 1, 2000, with a monthly
stipend of $1166. The intern will assist will all aspects of study
abroad including study advising services, orientations,
marketing/promotion, and special projects. A complete job description

Program-Specific Scholarships
There is still time to apply for the following scholarships if you are
planning to participate in a study abroad program with the organization
offering the scholarship in the Summer or Fall, 1999 or Academic Year
1999-2000:
CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) Bowman Travel Grant
Amount: $500-$2000
Requirements: undergraduates only, participating in a CIEE program,
including working or volunteer abroad programs anywhere EXCEPT
Australia, Canada, Europe, Israel, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Russia,
Singapore, or the US.
Deadline: April 1, 1999
Academic Programs International Study Abroad Scholarships
Amount: $200 or $500
Requirements: 3.0 or higher, demonstrate financial need
Deadline for Fall, 1999 or Academic Year 1999-2000: May 14, 1999
American InterContinental University in London or Dubai Study Abroad
Scholarship
Amount: $500
Requirements: 2.7 or higher
Deadlines: First Summer Term, 1999: April 2, 1999; Second Summer Term,
1999: June 11, 1999; Four Week Summer Sessions, 1999: April 2, 1999;
Fall Term, 1999: July 30, 1999.
Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Scholarships
Amount: round-trip ticket to japan and monthly stipend of 40,000 yen
during program. Maximum aid per student: $4000
Requirements: undergraduates only
Deadline for Fall, 1999: March 31, 1999
IES Institutional Partner Grant
Amount: $300 to count toward cost of IES semester or academic year
program
Requirements: undergraduates only
Deadline for Fall, 1999 or Academic Year 1999-2000: May 1, 1999
International Studies Abroad Program Scholarship
Amount: $500
Requirements: undergraduates only, 3.0 or higher

UGA Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy Scholarships
Amount: $300 to $1,500
Requirements: upper division undergraduate art major or graduate
student, 3.0 or higher

1999
