* it's said that decaying Unionids is the most loathsome odour one can
experience. The New Brunswick Museum got complaints about the odour of
this event -
8 August 2014 - Canada: New Brunswick: Queens County: Grand Lake, 4.9 km
ESE Clarks Corners. 45.93070N 66.07350W HABITAT: hurricane-stripped
gravel/clay/sand beach along sandy cottagey/swampy lakeshore. OBSERVER:
Frederick W. Schueler, Don McAlpine, Mary Sollows. 2014/219/ja,
Unionidae (Unionid Mussel) (Mollusca). shell, adult, dead, drift, seen,
specimen. WAYPT/164, massive drifts of shells & rotting along beach,
thrown up by Hurricane Arthur
- and tens of km along the shore with similar concentrations of
mortality, which allowed us to extend the known range of an endangered
