Christine...interesting point.  Might like you to know that we started
teaching our daughter the latin names at two years old and she picked
them up very rapidly.  We used to play a game with her when she was five
years old in our big shell cabinet and take all the labels off the
shells and she would put them back.  She now teaches science to 7th&8th
graders...and has a hard time remembering the common names to shells.
