My wife and I personally prefer using common names among friends for
their descriptive qualities and the personal touch they add. Language
itself is a a beautiful thing when used properly, ie: poetry. Common
names are like poetry to us. The obvious use of Latin names in
conchology (so to speak), is similar to the way veins, arteries and
diseases have latin references for cross referencing when dealing with
other countries in medical/scientific matters and creates a common
ground to avoid confusion. Live long and prosper, Michael and Marcie
Huggins of Bay Harbor Islands FL.
