Dear Conchlers,

My own rule is that I never take live shells for specimens. OK, so it means
that I have to spend at least twice as long in the field to get good
'fresh' dead specimens. The benefits are that I get to know habitat and
places better because I have to cover more territory to find what I want.
Obviously one needs live specimens when doing anatomical research but I
don't do that.

My other rule is to tread carefully and leave any place without trace that
I've been there - a rule I learned when I was young. A few seconds of
consideration doesn't cost anything.

I'm not that I'm laying on a 'holier than thou', it's just that I believe
in the concept of 'if you look after the small pixels, the big picture will
look after itself'.

Cheers,

Rob
