I have named only one shell, a Marginella, and it took a year of research
to do it, plus help from a few of my more scientific friends to complete
the job. I too am guilty of naming it after a person. The person who
collected the shell. I don't know if I will get involved in naming other
shells, even though there are at least 10 I know for sure that have no
names. I have about 50 Marginella species that have no names. I think
some are being named which already have names. I'm glad when a new shell
gets a name, but Please Mr. author be sure it's not got one already.
It's getting crazy out there.

Oh, one more thing. I mentioned about our website being updated and got
jumped on by someone, and yet how much advertisement has been put on
recently. I guess I should just put pretty pictures on and take the
prices off and let collectors ask me how much a certain shell is on
Conch-L. I also look at these sites and enjoy them, and if I want to ask
a question I do it privately.

I've been taking habitat shots of shells with my SLR for many years now,
so
I'm thinking about taking some habitat pictures this winter with our
digital camera and putting them on my site. What do you think??? The
pictures are not for sale, they are free to see on line.

Bob
