Not that it necessarily applies here but...
I have seen before where this was done when the Author described it in one
publication and figured it in another.

Some of Dall's works were this way 1881, 1885, 1889
For example I have seen Calliostoma (Fluxina) brunneum (Dall 1981) also listed
as 1889.

Also there are submission dates and publishing / printing dates that could be
more than one year... Perhaps that is the issue on this one?
